Opua is a sailing catamaran, built in 2006 by Broadblue. The model is a Broadblue BB-385 owners version. We are the 3rd owner and bought her in November 2022. Currently she is undergoing some maintenance work and is waiting for her new standing rigging. We aim to be ready to sail from the beginning of April 2023.
The boat is named after Opua, a locality in the Bay of Islands, in the sub-tropical Northland Region of New Zealand. It is notable as the first port for overseas yachts arriving in the country after crossing the Pacific Ocean. According to the New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage Opua translates to "place of the flower".
